Tommy Tumbleville: GOP’er Who Mocked Biden For Falling Falls Down Stairs

Oopsie!

Tommy Tumbleville

Karma. You gotta love it. However, we’re guessing Tommy Tuberville — or, as he is better known across the intertubes now, Tommy Tumbleville –has other opinions on the value of Karma. As most are aware at this point, President Biden has fallen a few times while cameras are around. And the reason most are aware is that Republicans like Tuberville have repeatedly mocked him for this, just as they do his stutter. In fact, Tuberville recently had a good bit of fun at Biden’s expense, referencing the President stumbling up the stairs to Air Force One. But now, Tuberville is eating his words.

President Biden isn’t the first President to do something embarrassing. Trump, notably given the GOP’s repeated insistence that Biden’s fitness for office is somehow determined by his ability to stay upright 100 percent of the time, nearly took a spill at West Point in 2020. He barely managed to steady himself. And as we all know, he humiliated himself by walking up the steps to Air Force One with a piece of toilet paper stuck to his shoe. President George H.W. Bush threw up all over the Japanese Prime Minister. Former Vice President Pence has fallen down while disembarking Air Force Two. Simply put, sh*t happens. Sometimes, once it’s clear everyone is OK, it’s funny. But Republicans attacks against Biden have bordered on unhinged every single time he so much as stutters.

Tommy Tumbleville Takes A Spill

“You watch Joe Biden over in Europe. I mean, I’m afraid he’s going to fall down every time I turn on television,” Tuberville said in July following President Biden falling while ascending the thin steps to Air Force One. Like most times Republicans say stupid things, Tuberville ended up with a reason to regret what he said.

On Wednesday, some embarrassing footage surfaced. In the video, “Tommy Tumbleville” whoopsie-daisied all the way down the stairs as he got off a plane in 2014. Naturally, this led to a flood of mockery from folks who noticed the similarity between what happened to Biden and to Tuberville.

“Check out the guy who is single-handedly sabotaging the greatest military force on the planet,” one X user writes, referencing Tuberville singlehandedly blocking promotions of more than 300 servicemen and women — including high-level positions that impact the conflict in the Middle East. CNN reports:

But Tuberville’s blockade means that the current commander of the US Navy’s 5th fleet – which is responsible for US naval operations in the Middle East region including the Red Sea and Gulf of Oman – is still awaiting promotion to deputy commander of US Central Command, which oversees US forces and operations in the region.

The deputy commanders of both 5th fleet and US Air Forces Central are also included in Tuberville’s hold, as well as CENTCOM’s deputy director of strategy, plans and policy.

One might assume he has a reason to sabotage our military — and they would be correct. Tuberville intends to keep sabotaging our military until it ends the practice of reimbursing servicemen and women for healthcare-related travel. Because he thinks it facilitates abortion. Yes, seriously.

Tuberville’s hold is not popular in his state of Alabama. A majority of voters want him to stop using our military to throw a tantrum over abortion.

A National Embarrassment

Like other Republicans, Tuberville has taken to attacking Biden as unfit for the presidency because he’s clumsy at times, is of advanced age, and speaks with a well-documented stutter he’s dealt with his entire life. To the intellectually dishonest, vile GOP, they are signs of “cognitive decline” and an unfitness for office. To make matters worse to Tuberville, he was a ripe, young 60 years old in 2014 — 20 years younger than Biden is now.

If Republicans think falling down some stairs and committing the crime of being 80 (just three years older than the likely GOP nominee) is a problem, shouldn’t they be jumping down Tuberville’s throat to resign? Will they finally denounce his weird blockade, which 55 percent of Alabamians feel hurts “national security?” Will Tommy finally develop a conscience? Probably not. But at least the video of him falling is funny.
