RFK Jr: How To Kill A Campaign In One Disastrous Staff Pick

RFK Junior eating a dog

I swear to god, RFK JR. is going to kill the Trump campaign. He’s neither a presidential or VP candidate anymore, and yet his inclusion on the Trump campaign is, even more than JD Vance, going to be an albatross around Trump’s neck that will sink him as surely as a tungsten anchor.

What’s worse is, adding RFK Jr. to the Trump campaign is an error that could have been easily avoided. RFK Jr. is many things, but he’s nowhere near as stupid as Trump, thus when he had to acknowledge that there was no way to 270 electoral votes for him, he did what any opportunist would, he asked his opponents for a job.

Naturally, when asked, the Harris/Walz campaign was far too wise to say yes. A campaigning built around normalcy can’t use an anti-vax conman dragging a long history of weird activities behind him. The Trump campaign however isn’t burdened by such minor inconveniences it’s almost as if his habit of randomly dismembering and transporting the carcasses of wild animals is a charming quirk to MAGA… or it’ll seem that way until the ads pointing out how weird everybody in the campaign is start rolling in… and I promise, those ads are coming.

In fact, it seems I’m not the only one who holds this opinion. Here’s Trae Crowder covering RFK Jr. as well:

What’s so odd about the 2024 presidential campaign is that it almost certainly won’t be won by the candidates, but by their communications teams. Harris and Walz are campaigning and generating excellent soundbites while Trump and Vance are bumbling about serving up fresh helpings of unfortunate messaging that almost has to be causing campaign officials to tear their hair out.

It’s been said that campaigns are won or lost in several general categories which boil down to policy, messaging, trivia, and in the modern era ad hominem attacks. In this campaign, mortal man creates no policy, no messaging strategy that can puncture the cloud of trivia that has led to an equally dense cloud of devastating ad hominem attacks surrounding Trump, Vance, and now, RFK Jr. and for some reason the Trump campaign doesn’t see the issue with that.

I wrote before about Tim Walz and his nearly bulletproof normalcy. The funny thing is that most if not all of the Harris/Walz ticket seems positively boring compared to their conservative counterparts. It’s gotten to the point where MAGA’s manufacturing Dadaist bullshit that literally nobody but the MAGA faithful believes in an effort to smear anyone on the Democratic side; and even after expending all that effort they’re failing badly.

The difficulty for Republicans is finding messaging and policy they can not only run on, but win on. It was already difficult when it was just Trump and his human gaff machine mini-me Vance. RFK Jr. is just gonna make an already bad situation worse.
